Turck is cooperating in the field of functionally safe automation with safety specialists Bihl+Wiedemann. “Through the close collaboration with Bihl+Wiedemann, Turck can as of now bring mature safety products to the market and ensure a short time to market also for other developments in the safety portfolio,” said Turck managing director Christian Wolf at the presentation of the collaboration in Düsseldorf. “We are thus able to supply our customers with the right I/O solutions also for safety-related applications from a single source.”

The collaboration bundles the core expertise of both companies together: “Turck is combining its IP67 expertise with the safety know-how of Bihl+Wiedemann,” Wolf continued. “The software development and the approval of safety solutions require a great deal of knowledge and experience in this field, from which we and above all our customers can now benefit through the collaboration.”

The world's first hybrid TBPN safety/standard block I/O modules that are presented at the same time are the first result of the cooperation. Bihl+Wiedemann supplies the safety electronics for the safety inputs and outputs of the new Profinet/Profisafe I/O module together with the associated safety software. Turck combines this on the main board with its standard and IO-Link ports to produce a multifunctional, robust safety module with IP65/67/69K protection.
